Also don't forget that you may be able to get a discount on Council Tax if you live with someone with a disability, if the property has been adjusted substantially due to a person's disability or if the person you care for lives in an annexe to your property.

Help with work
You don’t need to tell your employers that you are a carer but if you do then they have to offer you certain rights, such as:
- the right to ask for flexible hours
- the right to take off time in an emergency
