Romford Market is a historical market that was first opened nearly 800 years ago, and is still thriving in the centre of Romford today.
Open every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, there are always a huge range of stalls, making it the perfect place to visit for all your shopping needs.
From fashion to fresh fish and seafood, toys to trainers, books to bananas; each day the market brings different traders with something new to discover.
Community always remains at the heart of our market. Not only is it a great place to shop, you will also often find free events for the whole family to get involved in, and the warm and friendly atmosphere never fades.
The stalls line Romford Market Place, bringing a unique experience of shopping and eating al fresco in the fresh air and sunshine, and you can even bring your dog along as long as they are well-behaved and on a lead.
Whether you choose to walk, cycle, drive or travel by bus or train to the market, it could not be easier to visit us from across Havering and beyond.
Romford Market was first opened in 1247 by Royal Order during King Henry III’s reign.
Originally selling sheep and cattle, it soon become a key trading centre and was well established as a supplier of goods to London.
You can read all about the market’s history in our Romford Market History book hosted on the issuu website (Opens in new tab) including its involvement in the first world war, the changeover of torch bearers for the Olympic Torch relay and how wives were once sold on the market.
