Business Rates bill increase
At the budget, Central Government announced that the retail, leisure and hospitality relief would reduce from 75 percent relief in the 2024/25 financial year to 40 percent for the 2025/26 financial year.
The Business Rates multiplier has also increased from 1 April 2025 from 0.546 to 0.555 however the small business multiplier is frozen at 0.499.
As a result, some businesses may see increases from 2024/25 to 2025/26.
If you have not already done so, you may now request that your business rates are due over 12 monthly instalments rather than 10 monthly instalments. Please submit an enquiry form to request this, by visiting the contact us section.
If you believe your rateable value is incorrect, you may appeal this with the Valuation Office Agency.
The Valuation Office Agency, VOA, are responsible for the maintenance of the rating list and are the only ones who can make amendments to your rateable value.
You will need to submit a check, challenge and appeal and can be done so by visiting GOV.UKs valuation webpages.
Please note that with any appeal your rateable value can increase as well as decrease.
