Service of Thanksgiving
A ‘Service of Thanksgiving’ in memory of His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, will take place at 7.30pm on Friday 16 April at St Edward the Confessor, the Parish church of Romford.
As the Mayor of the London Borough of Havering, I wish to say how sorry I am on hearing the news of the sad loss of His Royal Highness Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh.
A sense of loss, which we are sure, is keenly felt by all. I send my deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers to the Royal Family and especially to Her Majesty the Queen.
I, personally, clearly and happily recall the joyous visit that The Duke made to the borough alongside Her Majesty The Queen in March 2003.
For the decades of service which his Royal Highness has given to the people of the United Kingdom in wartime and peacetime and for the 65 years of challenging and improving the lives of young people by creating the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, I give my thanks.
Councillor John Mylod, Mayor of Havering
Please accept my sincere condolences on the sad occasion of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT, OM, GBE.
Colonel Markham Bryant MBE, DL, Representative Deputy Lieutenant, London Borough of Havering
On behalf of the residents and businesses of the London Borough of Havering, I would like to express our deep sense of loss at the death of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.
Through initiatives like the Duke of Edinburgh awards which have benefited so many young people, and through his visits to our borough, he has left an indelible mark on Havering.
As a mark of respect Havering Council has joined other local authorities across the country in lowering the flags at the Town Hall, Romford to half-mast.
We give thanks for His Royal Highness’s tireless service to his country and the Commonwealth in war and in peace and of course we send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Royal Family and in particular Her Majesty the Queen, in whose grief we share.
Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council
