Ancient and veteran trees
We have UKSPF funding from the UK Government and the Mayor of London to carry out an ancient and veteran tree survey across the borough.
The Ancient and Veteran Tree Map shows the locations and species information for ancient and veteran trees on council-managed parks and grassed areas, private golf courses, a graveyard, sports grounds, nature reserves, streets, housing sites and private homes/farms across Havering.
You can use the interactive map to find ancient and veteran trees near you.

Top spots for these magnificent monuments include royal hunting forests, medieval deer parks, historic wood pastures, ancient wooded commons and old hedgerows.
This is a critical time for ancient and veteran trees, the habitats they support and the landscapes in which they can survive and flourish.
Their protection is crucial, not least because these living monuments represent a globally important resource, for biodiversity, carbon capture, soil conservation, cultural connection, and mental and physical health.
Britain is thought to have the greatest number of ancient trees in northern Europe.
We’d love to know what you think about this map as it will help us in refining the information and providing a valuable resource that allows you to explore Havering’s living legends.
Our survey should take you no longer than five minutes to complete.
