A new free weight loss programme to help local residents develop a healthier lifestyle is due to be launched in 2022.
Live Healthier Havering is a 12-week programme run by Everyone Active, on behalf of Havering Council.
It is aimed at helping people to lose weight, increase their energy levels and feel better, whilst reducing their risk of diseases such as coronary heart disease, diabetes and strokes.
Residents who are overweight, according to the NHS definition, can join the programme or speak to their GP or practice nurse.
Councillor Jason Frost, Cabinet Member for Public Health, said:
“With the new year approaching, some people will be thinking about what changes they can make so they can have a healthier lifestyle.
“The sessions are free and will help residents wishing to lose weight and improve their lifestyle. It will help them to become focused, while getting support in a fun and friendly environment.
“By making small changes to their diet and daily activities they should see a big improvement to their wellbeing in a short space of time.”
At the end of the course, participants will continue to receive support for up to a year.
