A serial shoplifter has been banned from areas of Harold Hill, following joint action by Havering Council and the Police.
Candilee Farey, 29, was given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which prevents her from entering the areas between Gooshays Drive and Hilldene Avenue
Plus Chippenham Road, West Dene Drive and Dartfields for a year.
Farey has also been required to get involved with the Change Grow Live (CGL) charity and complete a drugs or alcohol support programme.
The order follows the arrest of Farey following a string of shoplifting offences by her at Sainsbury’s, Co-op and the Card Factory store in Farnham Road, Harold Hill.
Community safety and enforcement officers worked in partnership with the police and the Crown Prosecution Service, to secure the CBO.
It is part of ongoing action via the Council and Police’s Clear Hold Build initiative in Harold Hill.
This is where the local police teams and council officers met with Farnham Road Shopkeepers Association, who had raised concerns about a rise in shoplifting in the area.
Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said:
“This is a great example of partnership working between the Council, the Police and other partners, showing our commitment in doing everything we can to keep our residents safer.
“We know the negative impact crime such as shoplifting has not only on our local businesses, but on the whole of the community.
“Thanks to the combined efforts of the Council’s Community Safety Team, Met Police and the judiciary system, we have been able to secure this Criminal Behaviour Order in this case.”
Inspector Charlie Routley, Tactical Lead for the Police’s Clear Hold Build initiative in Harold Hill, said:
“Following concerns raised by the local community, it was quickly established that Farey was a persistent offender in the Farnham Road area.
“Her complete disregard for the law and brazen shoplifting led to shop workers and residents feeling unsafe.
“The great work of my team alongside our partners at Havering Council, secured a CBO, which will prevent her from future offending.
"As well as providing her with the appropriate support services to help turn her life around.
“I thank our key partners at Havering Council for their continued support with Clear Hold Build and we continue to work together in making Harold Hill a safer place to live and work.
“We will continue to target those offenders who come to Farnham Road solely for the purpose of committing criminal offences.”
