Havering residents are reminded they will need to take valid photographic ID when attending their designated polling station for the Greater London Authority Elections on Thursday 2 May 2024.
On polling day, Londoners will go to the polls to elect a Mayor of London and 25 London Assembly Members.
Voters are now required to show a valid form of photographic Identification when voting at a polling station.
To find out which ID you can use in the polling station, visit the Electoral Commission website.
If you do not have one of the accepted types of ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate on the GOV.UK website, or by completing and submitting a paper application form to your local authority.
You must apply by 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024, to be able to use the Voter Authority Certificate on Thursday 2 May 2024.
An online tool has been launched to help Londoners locate their polling stations. To use this, please visit the London Elects website.
On Thursday 2 May 2024, Londoners can only vote at their designated polling station. Poll cards detailing this information have been sent to all registered electors.
How to vote:
In this election, there are three ballot papers.
- Pink Ballot Paper – London Mayor
- Yellow Ballot Paper – London Assembly (Constituency) Member
- Orange Ballot Paper – Assembly Member (London-wide)
Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday 2 May 2024.
You can also vote by proxy. This is where you appoint a person you trust to vote on your behalf.
The proxy must be registered and eligible to vote in the type of election in which you are voting. The deadline to appoint a proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024.
