Twenty six Havering schools have been commended for receiving “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted ratings.

The schools were invited to meet the Mayor, Councillor Gerry O’Sullivan, who thanked them for their amazing work.

Councillor O’Sullivan told Headteachers: “I am so pleased that you are here today. What you have achieved is amazing.”

He said that from personal experience within his own family, he realised what a stressful and difficult job teaching is.

“Without people like you directing staff, things would not happen. Not only should the children be proud of what has been achieved but also the staff. Well done and congratulations.”

Ofsted inspections traditionally last for up to two days and involve inspectors carrying out a thorough assessment of the school’s overall performance.

It looks at areas such as the quality of education, pupil behaviour, leadership and the effectiveness of safeguarding policies.

Headteachers from a mixture of primary, secondary, special and alternative education settings received certificates and a medal on behalf of their school.

The Mayor also issued an invitation to bring their pupils to the Town Hall in Romford to enjoy the unique experience of visiting the Council and its chamber.
