Havering resident Eileen has found her ideal home and community at Park Rise.
The newly developed apartments in Hornchurch have been designed and built for later living by Wates and Havering Council.
Eileen, a former NHS worker with over 30 years of service, discovered Park Rise through the Havering Council website.
Drawn to the high-quality, future-proofed apartments set alongside the 130-acre Harrow Lodge Park, she was initially only held back by her apprehension about moving.
Eileen said:
“I was daunted by the fact that I hadn’t moved for 24 years so I didn’t know what I was letting myself in for. But the support for purchasing at Park Rise was seamless.
"If I had any queries, there was always somebody on the end of the phone.”
Now enjoying her new home with spacious interiors, a modern shower room, and large windows overlooking the communal gardens, Eileen can’t imagine being anywhere else.
But her favourite thing about Park Rise isn’t just the facilities, it’s the vibrant sense of community.
She added: “They’ve actually included me in one of their WhatsApp groups as well, so I’m always in touch with people.
"For example, we had a lady that became a grandmother so we wet the baby’s head in a communal room that evening. That was really lovely.”
Tucking into a slice cake at the weekly coffee afternoon in the communal lounge, Eileen explains: “I just love being here. Also, I feel safe here. I feel a lot more secure. I feel a lot more content. I've made lots of friends. It's just how retirement should be.”
Councillor Paul McGeary, Cabinet Member for Housing Property, said:
“It is really great to hear how well Eileen has settled in and how much she loves living at Park Rise.
“Park Rise is a model for supportive, vibrant later living, bringing people together in a welcoming, secure environment and I wish Eileen and her new neighbours many years of health and happiness.”
