Havering Council will be celebrating International Women’s Day this year with a series of events across the borough.

This year's events include a business and enterprise networking events and a range of activities in Romford Market through the week.

This year’s celebrations will be marked on 8 March and the theme is Balance for Better, #BalanceforBetter.  Gender balance is essential for economies and communities to thrive, and it drives a better working world.

Councillor Damian White, Leader of the Council, said:

“We are pleased to continue celebrating International Women’s Day, as part of our larger programme of support for businesses and residents.

“A good gender balance is vitally important for the health and vibrancy of Havering.  However, we know that people can sometimes encounter barriers.  We need to work together to focus on innovative ways in which we can advance gender equality.

“Havering Council, and its partners, will be highlighting the progress that has been made but will also be increasing awareness of gender equality, whilst also providing some light-hearted activities across Havering.”

Havering Business Network

It's taking place on Wednesday 6 March, 7-8.30pm Mercury Mall, Mercury Gardens, Romford RM1 3EE.

Havering Enterprising Women is a network of like-minded women that aims to share experiences, empower and celebrate one another.  Our network is open to all, and we encourage engagement from across Havering.

Following the success of our pilot programme in October, Havering Enterprising Women will be returning to Hornchurch High School, along with some inspirational female leaders, to inspire and increase aspirations amongst some of the next generation of females.
