Residents are invited to the next stage of public consultation for Bridge Close in Romford
Local residents and businesses will have a further opportunity to share their views on the emerging plans to transform the Bridge Close Industrial Estate, an area of Romford Town Centre set within the ring road and alongside the River Rom.
The first of the two-day public exhibition took place on Saturday 11 May at the Brewery and the second event takes place tomorrow evening, Tuesday 14 May, from 4pm to 7pm, at the Havering Islamic Cultural Centre, 91 Waterloo Road, Romford, RM7 0AA
The exhibition marks the third stage of consultation to date and will outline how the plans have progressed in response to local aspirations and ambitions, as well as the feedback received at the events in September and November 2018.
The redevelopment of Bridge Close will create a new quarter of Romford Town Centre, delivering new homes, including much needed affordable housing, as well as a primary school, health services and community facilities.
The plans also seek to create new pedestrian and cycle links to the town centre alongside attractive public spaces along a stretch of the River Rom for the whole community to enjoy.
The proposals are being brought forward by a joint venture between London Borough of Havering and First Base, an urban regeneration specialist, and Savills Investment Management who own land in Bridge Close.
Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said:
“Havering residents are at the heart of everything we do so it’s always good to hear directly from local people and businesses.
“The regeneration of Bridge Close will open up this part of Romford town centre for the whole community to enjoy; with the revival of the River Rom, new homes and community facilities.
"I encourage everyone to come along and have their say on how the plans will be developed”.
A spokesperson at First Base said:
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the consultation events in 2018 and we look forward to showcasing the emerging plans to the community at the upcoming exhibition.
“Following the exhibition our project team will take the time to review all of the comments and feedback we receive to ensure that they can be taken into account as the plans continue to progress in the coming months.”
