Carers Week events lined up to support local carers

We’re supporting Carers Week (June 2019) to emphasise the important role of carers within their families and the local community and to show the challenges and difficulties they face on a daily basis.

According to Carers Week research released today, unpaid carers who are caring for their sick or disabled relatives are seven times more likely to be lonely compared with the general public.

Havering Council is using Carers Week to raise awareness of hidden carers in the borough and to help those already actively taking care of family members or friends to access key services and the help readily available to them.

There are nearly 9 million people across the UK looking after someone in their family or a friend who is disabled, seriously ill or needs additional support as they get older.

Havering is on mission to bring carers together and connect them with each other.

To mark Carers Week, we’re encouraging carers to get connected in their communities and making them aware of the help, support and advice available to them.
