Havering is the top London borough for offering over 80 percent of pupils their first choice of secondary school place.

This compares to a London-wide average of around 60 percent.

Meanwhile, over 93 percent of children due to start secondary school this September have been offered a place at one of their top three preferred schools in the borough.

Councillor Robert Benham, Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Families, said:

“Our investment and the brilliant work of our secondary schools has made sure, once again, that more parents in Havering have secured their first choice place for their children than anywhere else in London.

“With nine out of ten pupils being offered a top three choice place, today’s data is great news for our borough.

"It also suggests that the vast majority of families have been able to apply for their child’s school place despite challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We continue to work hard to improve our offer for younger children with our budget investing over £33m into more early years, primary and secondary school places in coming years.

"This means parents can have huge confidence in this Council and the choices they make for their children’s education from nursery age right through to secondary school.”
