Havering’s suicide prevention groups
Lived Experience Advisory Group
This group is for individuals 18+ who live, work or spend time in Havering and who:
- have experienced or live with suicidal thoughts
- have attempted suicide
- have lost a loved one to suicide
- support or care for a loved one with experience of suicidality
- engage in self-harm
- have experience of suicide through your profession
The Lived Experience Advisory Group offers a space to contribute insights, share ideas and help shape suicide prevention efforts across Havering.
Members participate in quarterly virtual meetings and responsibilities include reviewing prevention materials, providing feedback and collaborating with other group members and stakeholders.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and members can engage at a level they feel comfortable with, and in particular topic areas in which they feel most comfortable contributing.

Stakeholder Group
With over 175 members from various sectors, this group plays a key role in Havering’s Suicide Prevention Strategy.
Members receive updates, attend events, receive updates on training opportunities and engage in discussion as needed to support system-wide efforts.
By staying informed and involved, they contribute to shaping and advancing suicide prevention efforts in Havering.

Suicide Prevention Steering Group
Comprising representatives from the Council, the NHS, Safeguarding, mental health charities, people with lived experience and other organisations, this group oversees the Suicide Prevention Strategy’s Action Plan.
Meeting quarterly, they track progress, adjust strategies based on data and produce an annual report.
The group ensures suicide prevention efforts are implemented across the system.
The Suicide Prevention Steering Group is responsible to the Havering Place Based Partnership and the Havering Health and Wellbeing Board, and accountable to the Council’s Cabinet.
