Garden waste bin service

With our garden waste bin service you can order one or more 240-litre wheeled green bins to put your garden waste into.

The waste is collected every other week (except two weeks over Christmas) and disposed of for a fee of £84 per bin, per year.

You sign up to the bin service with an annual contract that should be renewed if you want to continue to use the service.

The renewal period each year normally runs from the first week of March until the start of June.

We normally send contract renewal information to you from the first week of March. This will include your unique contract reference number which will change each year so please do wait for the renewal information to reach you.

The garden waste bin contract covers a one year period and runs from 1 April to 31 March the following year and further details of the services offered can be found in the terms and conditions.

When you sign up or renew you will also get a sticker to display on your bin showing you have a valid contract with us.

Renew, make changes or sign up to the garden waste bin service

To get the garden waste bin service set up at a property, renew the service or change the collection address and number of bins please follow the link to our 'Manage your garden waste bin contract' form.

You will then have the option to login to your My Havering account to have the record of your actions placed in there or you can continue without logging in.

The online form will then ask for your address and will confirm if you have a contract to renew or change or it will offer you the option to get a contract if there is not one at the property.

Depending on the time of year only certain options will be available. The online form will present you with what you can do as you answer the questions in it.

If you want to cancel your contract during the renewal period simply do nothing and just let it expire.

Please note that the contract period runs from April to March the following year with no discounts for starting later than April or cancelling after renewing.

If there is already a green garden waste bin at your property, perhaps left by a previous owner, we will not deliver a new bin to you when you subscribe to the service.

You can also call us on 01708 431717 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, except bank holidays) to get a contract set up, change the number of bins, change your address or cancel your contract.

Stickers for your bin

If you sign up or renew the service you will receive a sticker for your bin or bins.

You should get your sticker within 21 days after subscribing or renewing.

If your bin does not display the correct sticker for the period it will not be emptied from the middle of June onwards.

Please note stickers will not be issued for compostable sacks.

The sticker shows that you have paid for one garden waste bin to be emptied during the period stated on the sticker. If you have paid for more than one bin you should have a sticker for each bin.

Missing a sticker?

If you are missing a sticker please let us know by using our enquiry form and selecting 'Garden Waste Sticker' from the dropdown.

Displaying your sticker

The sticker should be displayed as shown on the instructions in your letter.

If the sticker is not visible to our collection crew on your collection day your bin will not be emptied.

Garden waste collection day

If you have the garden waste service then your next collection day will be displayed along with your other bin collection days via our 'check your collection day' address look up.
