Unfortunately, our services are sometimes disrupted or changed because of things like weather conditions, major road closures, online system updates or things that are just beyond our control.

This page will list or direct you to information about any changes.

We list specific service disruptions in our messaging banners that will be displayed under the very top of this page and also on the pages for the service disrupted.

More general information on disruptions and where to get further details is below.

General information on service disruptions and how to find out about them

You should check the bank holiday service changes page for any changes we've planned that are specific to a holiday period.

If the weather is bad enough to activate an emergency plan (such as 'red' weather warnings) you can find a list of key contacts you may need on our emergency planning page.

Our winter services page has specific information relating to what we do over those months.

Recycling and rubbish collections

Our roads with missed collections page will be updated should there be an issue with collections as a result of the weather, road closures or issues with collection vehicles.

School closures

Please check individual school websites for information on any school closures.

Libraries

Libraries may close in cases of extreme weather. Please go to our library website for details.

Transport

Many transport services can be affected such as buses and trains.

For the underground and buses visit the Transport for London status checker for updates.

For overground train services visit the National Rail website.

There are online resources for roads such as Google Maps and Essex Highways giving updates on queues and traffic.

Gritting

When snow and ice are forecast, priority routes including main A and B roads, and school entrances will be gritted. The A12, A127 and A13 will be gritted by Transport for London.

There is more information on our gritting page.

Keep updated

There are also updates on local radio such as Time FM and Heart FM.

Updates on the weather can be found on the Met office website.
