Waste and recycling from businesses
We do not provide a business waste and recycling collection service.
All businesses are legally required to have waste and recycling produced at their premises removed by a recognised trade waste carrier. You can find these online or in phone directories.
It is your responsibility to make sure they are licensed to collect waste. You can check whether a waste carrier is licensed on the environment agency website (Opens in new tab).
There is further information and advice on business and commercial waste on the GOV.UK website (Opens in new tab).
Food waste from businesses
Under the Environment Act 2021, businesses in England must separate food waste from other waste streams from 31 March 2025 (31 March 2027, for micro-businesses which are businesses with fewer than 10 employees).
You must arrange for the separate collection of food waste by licensed waste carriers.
Non-compliance can result in fines, health risks, and reputational damage.
Food waste includes a wide range of biodegradable materials, such as fruit and vegetable peels, bones, eggshells, coffee grounds, and even tea bags.
Separate all food waste from other waste streams and store food waste in separate bins from other waste.
Visit the GOV.UK website (Opens in new tab) for more information on the food waste regulations.
